Dance, freeze, laugh, repeat - a high-energy classic that’s perfect for all ages.
A timeless game that brings instant energy to any gathering! Play music and let everyone dance around the space - but the moment the music stops, everyone must freeze like a statue. If someone wobbles or laughs, they’re out (or just reset and keep going - your rules!).
This one’s fantastic for parties, rainy day movement, or anytime you need to shake out the sillies. Great for practicing self-regulation, balance, and listening skills too.
Keep it playful with silly dance themes (“zombie mode!”), or switch things up by letting different kids take turns being the DJ.

Prep
Step 1:
Choose some upbeat music your group will enjoy. (There are lots of Freeze dance songs online too)
Step 2:
Clear a space safe for dancing.
Play
Step 1:
Start the music and let everyone dance around freely.
Step 2:
Pause the music at random - when the music stops, everyone must freeze!
Step 3:
Optional: If someone moves, they’re “out” - or just give them a funny challenge like hopping or spinning before rejoining.
Extend
Theme rounds: Dance like animals, robots, or spaghetti noodles.
Freeze poses: Call out what pose to freeze in - superhero, flamingo, wide star, etc.
Balance boost: Try freezing on one foot, or with hands in the air.
