Pass the Face is a no-prep, no-materials game that's sure to get everyone giggling!
One person makes a silly face - maybe wide eyes, puffed cheeks, or a goofy grin. The next person copies that face as closely as possible, then tweaks it - by adding a tongue, squinting one eye, or scrunching their nose. The chain continues, with each player copying and adapting, until the face looks completely different from the original!
This game encourages children to notice and replicate subtle changes in facial expressions, building social awareness and emotional recognition. It also gives them a chance to practice creativity, turn-taking, and confidence in a low-pressure, funny way.
Perfect for family play, circle time, or even a quick mood-lifting break (for all ages).
None required - just gather players in a circle or around a table.
The first player makes a silly face (and holds it!)
The next player copies the face as closely as possible.
That player then changes one detail (mouth, eyes, eyebrows, etc.) to make a new silly face.
Continue around the circle, passing and transforming the face until it comes back to the starting person.
Compare the first face to the final one - it’s usually hilariously different!
If playing with just 2 players, simply keep taking turns tweaking your faces until the first person giggles and loses!
Emotion match: Try starting with specific feelings (happy, sad, surprised) and see how they change.
Music twist: Play music and pass faces to the beat for added energy, or add silly freeze positions with your bodies too.
No laughing competition: Whenever someone laughs they're out, the winner is the last silly face standing.
