Got a spare cereal box and a few toy cars? That’s all you need for this easy game!
Turn the box on its side to make a mini "garage", then invite your child (or yourself!) to roll or push toy cars toward the opening. Can you get it in?
This is great for practising aim, coordination, and experimenting with force. You can keep it as easy or tricky as you like, and it’s a fun way to re-use a bit of recycling before it hits the bin.
Set it up on a smooth surface indoors or outside on a gentle slope for even more fun.
Take an empty cereal box and tip it on its side, so the open top creates a “garage” door.
Optionally, tape it to the floor to stop it from sliding.
Decorate with stickers or markers if you like!
Place the cereal box garage a short distance away.
Roll or push toy cars or balls towards the opening.
Make it a challenge by increasing distance or aiming from different angles.
Take turns or try to beat a score if you fancy
Box maze: Use other boxes or cardboard scraps to create a full garage or car maze to roll through.
Rainbow Roads: Tape or draw coloured lanes leading into the box — call out a colour and see if they can roll the car down the right road.
Decorate Together: Turn it into a craft project - let them colour the box, add a sign, or build a whole garage station with parking and mechanics!
