This is one of those beautifully simple games that brings instant laughter and togetherness. One person sings a line from a song, then pauses - and the next person has to jump in and finish the lyric - whether it's the next word or line (you choose!).
It’s a low-pressure way to connect, spark memories, and get everyone involved, whether you’re confident singers or wildly off-key (sometimes that’s the best part).
The game gently works memory, listening skills, and turn-taking for kids, while offering adults a light, playful break.
This works well in the car, around the table, or while waiting for something to start.
You can also play this one during the festive season - swapping in Christmas carols turns it into an easy holiday tradition!
No setup, no cleanup, just shared joy and familiar tunes.
Choose a starting person.
Decide on a loose theme if helpful (favourites, kids’ songs, Christmas carols, road trip hits).
The first person sings one line of a song, then stops. If you want the simple "word" version, sing the line except the last word.
The next person tries to sing the following word or line.
Keep rotating turns around the group.
If someone gets stuck, the group can help - or laugh and move on to a new song.
Keep it light and playful - accuracy optional!
Road Trip Mode: Play in the car to pass time without screens.
Speed Round: Set a 3-second rule to keep the energy up.
Toddler-Friendly Version: Use nursery rhymes or familiar kids’ songs.
Festive Edition: Use Christmas carols or holiday songs during the festive season.
Duet Save: If someone gets stuck, they can choose a partner to finish the line together.
