Kids are so often in the position of being told what to do. This simple game flips the script in a playful and empowering way. Invite your child to teach you how to do something - how to brush your teeth, how to pack a bag, how to dance, how to line up toys, how to draw a cat - whatever they like!

Invite your child to “teach you” how to do something - you can choose a useful time like when they're having trouble being motivated brushing teeth, or just as a lighthearted moment to connect. Let them choose the topic - they might want to act like a teacher, a coach, or just playfully boss you around.
Follow their instructions (even the silly ones!) and ask questions like “Am I doing it right?” or “What do I do next?”
Show curiosity, get things ‘wrong’ on purpose to make them giggle, and praise their teaching skills.
Forgetful grown-up: Take the role play further and get some giggles by stepping into a silly forgetful character that needs a lot of correction. E.g. put your socks on your hands, hold the toothbrush backwards.
Pretend classroom: Stuck inside? Create a pretend classroom or stage setup. Let them use a chalkboard, whiteboard, or paper to ‘teach’ like in a classroom setting and get their toys involved.
Art teacher: For a relaxed way to connect, draw together and let them lead, while you copy whatever they draw step by step.
