A simple activity for your next craft-ernoon or kids party! Using just pipe cleaners and beads, create bubble wands in any shape you like - hearts, stars, letters, or classic circles.
Threading beads adds a pop of colour, a fine motor boost, and a fun tactile element to the craft.
Once built, dip the wands into your favourite bubble mix (check out our fun !) and watch the magic happen.
It’s a mix of art, STEM, and outdoor fun, all in one playful project.
Gather pipe cleaners and beads
Set out a small container of bubble solution. (Try out our )
Shape the pipe cleaner into a loop or fun design (e.g. heart, flower or star), leaving a straight "handle" at the bottom.
You can try twisting two different pipe cleaners tightly together to create a colourful pattern.
Thread the beads on the stick or head of your bubble wand (do this first if you want to decorate the head).
Bend the sharp ends of the pipe cleaner in to reduce any scratches.
Dip the shaped loop into bubble solution.
Blow or wave to make bubbles!
Shape Challenge: Try making wands shaped like animals, numbers, or your initials.
Bead patterns: Try creating repeated patterns with the beads, or spell out your name.
STEAM lesson: Compare different shaped wands to see which makes the biggest bubbles. Chat about why the bubbles come out round regardless of shape!
