Some days you just don’t have the energy to be up and about - but you still want to play. This super simple roleplay setup lets your child take the lead as the chef, server, or delivery driver while you stay seated and join in through conversation.
They can build a “menu” using toy food, drawings, or real kitchen props, take your order like a food delivery app or call-in service, and deliver your meal right to your “door.” It encourages storytelling, language development, and independence -...
Set out toy food and any props your child might want to use. Suggest they make a menu or decide what their restaurant/delivery service is called.
Invite your child to be the chef or food delivery person.
Ask them to take your order - by phone, app, or in person.
Sit back while they prep your pretend meal.
Receive your “delivery” and pretend to enjoy it (or rate it 5 stars!).
Repeat with different orders or switch roles.
Draw the Menu: Help your child draw or write down menu options with prices.
Multiple Deliveries: Set up different rooms as "customers" and let them deliver to various spots.
Receipt & Payment: Add play money or hand-drawn receipts for more roleplay fun.
